Try On a Kimono in Taipei – A Unique Japanese Cultural Experience | Rongjin Gorgeous Time

If you are looking for a less rushed afternoon activity, the Kimono experience might be a good choice.

In the Rongjin Time Life Park in the center of Taipei, there is a group of well-preserved old Japanese houses. The wooden structure, old windows and gardens make people feel that the pace slows down as soon as they walk in. And it is near Yongkang Street!

This is not a bustling place like a tourist attraction, but a perfect place to quietly put on your favorite kimono, take a few simple photos, take a walk, and feel the Japanese atmosphere that is rare in city life.

You don’t need to travel far to Japan, you can also see the scenery from a different perspective by staying in Taipei.

Why choose to experience Kimono at Rongjin Time?

I used to think that wearing a kimono would only make sense if it matched the streets of Kyoto. However, when you actually walk into Rongjin Time, you will find that the old house and the natural atmosphere are actually very suitable for a quiet kimono experience.

The old buildings here were originally dormitories during the Japanese colonial period. Many wooden details, window panes and eaves are well preserved. Without excessive decoration, it makes people feel more relaxed.

Also because the space itself has a sense of history, walking in it in a kimono will make you feel that everything is just right. In addition, the environment here is full of greenery and flowers, so there is no need for special decoration or posing, and it is very atmospheric.

Recommended Kimono Shops in the Park | Shanyueyun Kimono Experience Shop

Beautiful purple curtains come into view. This is the only kimono experience store in the park.

The original team of Hanafatei Kimono Shop has taken over the service, providing a one-stop service from clothing, makeup to photography.

If it is your first time wearing a kimono, it is no problem at all. The teachers on site are very professional and experienced!

Process Description:

✅ Make an appointment early

We recommend that you make an appointment with the teachers before going there to avoid time conflicts. After the reservation is successful, you will need to pay a deposit of 2,500 yuan.

✅ Dressing process

Choosing kimonos and accessories: There are many styles, ranging from pink patterns to traditional colors, including yukata, kimono, and large furisode. The price range of kimonos is around 800 yuan to 3,600 yuan. The teacher will give you suggestions based on your skin color and temperament, and then try them on for you to see if you like them. Only after you have decided will you officially wear them.

▲ The ones hanging here are large furisodes, and their temperament is indeed extraordinary

Wearing process: Professional teachers will help you put it on step by step and tie the most beautiful belt. Another great feature of experiencing kimono at Shanyueyun is that you can add the "hand-tied belt" service . Beautifully embroidered belts are laid out in a stack, and the teacher will help you match the styles. This kind of belt is rare in Taiwan and you can usually only experience it in Japan.

Like this orange-green floral belt, it was embroidered by a Japanese craftsman and the workmanship is very delicate.

If you do not choose to pay extra, the basic plan will include the shaped bow shown below, which is also very cute when tied in a small size.

Bonus items: If you want to match it with hair accessories, paper umbrellas, or small handbags, you can choose them. It’s not too fancy, just right.

The whole dressing process takes about 30 to 45 minutes, so it is recommended that you wear light clothes.

Recommended shooting time in summer:

The photographer recommends that you can make an appointment to shoot at 1pm (come to change clothes at 12pm) and avoid shooting at noon, because if the sun is shining from above, it is easy to have shadows on your face when taking pictures, which will not be very beautiful!

In the city, slow down a bit. Maybe you just come to Taipei for a day, or maybe you work or live nearby, but we would like to invite you to take some time for yourself in the afternoon.

If you are not in a hurry and want to see the city in a different way, then come to Rongjin. Welcome!
